Life is ever changing and time is not standing still for anyone. Babies are born and people are dying everyday, but most of us are so busy with life that we are often guilty of living from one season or one event to the other.  Many days we look up from this hectic rat-race that we call life and bemoan the fact that life is passing away too quickly and surely the days are getting shorter.

Well, folks, let me assure you that after much contemplation and consideration, I have determined that each day has been one that had 24 hours in it, and was made up of 1440 minutes or 86,400 seconds.  In other words, we did not somehow transcend time and space and skip any hours, minutes or seconds in those days. So, what is the problem and why do we feel like life is passing us by?

The answer is one that we probably do not want to deal with but let me reveal it to us anyway.  Our problem, simply stated, is that we are so caught up in life... so wrapped up in life's demands... that we do not stop to savor the moments in time that we are given... especially when it comes to stopping to "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it Holy", as instructed in Exodus 20:8.

Let's face the fact... we live life in a crazy frenzy. How do you get off of the non-stop merry-go-round that we call life?  The answer is found in the Word of God... listen to what Jeremiah teaches us in Jeremiah 6: 16... He declares for all to hear... "... the LORD says, "Stop right where you are! Look for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls."

It is my prayer that each of you will join me in learning to look to the better way...God's Way. Join me and let's commit to live our lives God's way.  From now on, let's strive to live life in God's rest.  Let's commit ourselves to do this, not only for the remainder of this  year, but also in all of the years of life that God gives us to live.  It is my prayer that we will not be like the people of Jeremiah's day whose response to God was... "No, that's not the road we want!"

Remember, as the prophet Isaiah teaches us in Isaiah 55:8-9... God's "ways are far beyond anything we can imagine... for just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are God's ways higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts."

Please join me and let's learn to walk in the Godly Way and enjoy life in His rest by ...

  1. Anchoring your life in Jesus!

  2. Living your life daily in an attitude of thanksgiving, especially thanking Him for all of the great and glorious gifts that He will give you, beginning with thanksgiving for the gift of eternal life in Christ!

  3. Determining in your heart that today, God desires for you to share the love of Jesus with someone you love by telling them what the Lord has done for you!

May you have a blessed and fruitful life!!

See you in church this Sunday,

Bro. Bill
