Can you believe that school is out for the summer and that wonderful time of year that we all enjoy has already arrived? If you are like me, you probably are trying to figure out what happened to spring. Where did it go so quickly? How did we get from Christmas to summer in such a short time frame?
Well, folks, let me assure you that after much contemplation and consideration, I have determined that each day since Christmas has been one that had 24 hours in it, and was made up of 1440 minutes or 86,400 seconds. In other words, we did not somehow transcend time and space and skip those days, but let me suggest to you instead that we were so caught up in life... so wrapped up in life's demands... that we did not stop to savor the moments in time that we were given. As James 4: 14 declares... life between then and now was "like the morning fog... it appeared for a little while and then it was gone... burned off... never to live again."
How can we change this in our lives? How can we stop the crazy frenzy? The answer is found in the Word of God... listen to what Jeremiah teaches us in Jeremiah 6: 16... "... the LORD says, "Stop right where you are! Look for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls."
It is my prayer that each of you will join me this summer in learning to obey God's Word. Let us not be like the people of Jeremiah's day whose response was... 'No, that's not the road we want!'
Remember, as the prophet Isaiah teaches us in Isaiah 55:8-9... God's "ways are far beyond anything you can imagine... for just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are God's ways higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts."
Will you not join me as we walk in the godly way this summer and enjoy rest in your soul by...
- Anchoring your life in His life?
- Living your life daily to give Him thanks for all the great and glorious gifts that He has given, especially the gift of eternal life in Jesus Christ?
- Determining in your heart that you are the only one who can share His love with someone you love?
